I am new to dreamweaver and trying to make updates to our current web site.
When I try to connect to the FTP where our files are located, I get the error:
An FTP error occured-cannot make connection to host. Your login and password
is incorrect. Please check your connection information.

I know the login information is right because I have spoken to tech support at
our host and he can connect from his end, i just can't from mine. Any ideas on
how to fix this?
I am on a mac and running OS X.3.7

Thanks!

Where is your Mac? Are you at work? At home? Do you have a firewall
blocking connections, by any chance? Have you tried using Passive FTP in
your site definition? Are you sure you're connecting to the correct
IP/Domain Name?

Sorry if I ask the obvious, but there are a lot of "what-if" conditions that
could cause this.

Best regards,
Chris

The computer is at work on a network. I believe there is a firewall, but the
tech guy had me ping their servers and they could see me. I have tried passive
FTP and still the same error and I am positive the domain name is correct.

No, can't do it from safari either. I can get to their main FTP site, but not to our specific folder.

Hmmm... Give this a shot and see if it does anything:

From Safari:

http://***@ftp.mysite.com/

That should tell the ftp server who to log in as. If you're in a subfolder
of that, then you can add it to the end.

Also, does it not work with another FTP program? Lastly, and more
annoyingly, can you connect from Windows?

Best regards,
Chris
