I have some html pages with a .tpl extension rather than .htm. How do I get
Dreamweaver MX to recognize this file. When I click on the file it tells me
can't find a valid editor for this type. I also tried to add it to the list
of html extensions in Configurations/Extensions.txt but Dreamweaver still
doesn't know what type of file it is.

Thanks for help

Add that file extension to the list of file extensions dw "knows"
about.

MM technote:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/dreamweaver/ts/documents/add_ext_mx.htm

Note- be sure to be in the Configurations folder for YOU as a User, if on a
multi-user os like mac osX or XP or Win2000
http://www.macromedia.com/support/dreamweaver/ts/documents/multiuser.htm

does that work?

Extensions.txt isn't the same thing- check the technote above.

I followed the tech doc mentioned, yet Dreamweaver MX still doesn't
recognize .tpl

I am the only user on my Win XP
I searched the hard drive and only found one copy of Extension.txt and
MMDocumentTypes.xml
I edited the said files adding TPL and tpl to the respective files along
with all other html references
I restarted Dreamweaver.

Result:
*.tpl doesn't show up in the list of html files when I select file-open
opening a .tpl file produces can't find a valid editor for this type error.

Am I missing something??
Chris

BTW: Sorry if first reply went somewhere else, I using a new mail program.
