Dreamweaver CS3 and WebDAV

I have a problem connecting to the remote server with WebDAV using Dreamweaver
CS3. When I try to connect I get this error message:
"Cannot display the remote folder: An HTTP WebDAV error occurred. Dreamweaver
cannot get a listing for the folder you specified. Make sure you have proper
authorization on the server, and the server is properly configured. Make sure
the remote folder is avaliable or select a different one by clicking Manage
Sites."

I have previously used FrontPage without any problems, so I know the remote
folder is available. I have authorisation, and I have dublechecked username and
password. That leads me to belive that the server is sot properly configured. I
need to know what to to do to configure the server properly*, but Adobe support
has not been able to tell me what to do, so I'm hoping one you can help me with
that. If you don't think it is a serverconfigurationproblem please let me know.

Additional information: when I "test" username and password under Remote Info
in the manage site section, I get this error message:
"An HTTP error occurred. Dreamweaver cannot make connection to host. Your
loginor password is incorrect. Please check your connection information."
But it is correct, I've checked and doublechecked.

* I'm not going to do it myself, but it will go a lot faster if I can just
point the admintrator in the right direction.

Have you had any resolution to this as I'm getting the same thing when trying
to connect to Version Cue via webdav in OS X.

Connecting via the "Connect to Server" dialog works fine for webdav.
Dreamweaver CS3 gives the error in the first post.

Yep, I have the same problem. Dreamweaver CS3 on 10.4.9, uploading to a 10.4.9
web server using WebDAV authentication. I have discovered, however, that WebDAV
connections will work under one particular circumstance; if the directory to
which you are uploading is NOT readable by everyone. Connecting to a web
directory that's restricted to the general public (requires authentication for
reading) then WebDAV works. On my OSX server, I can toggle the "Read Only"
checkbox (for Everyone) on a web directory - uploads only work when it's NOT
checked, meaning it's a restricted access directory. Very strange, now how do I
convince Adobe of this fact?

BTW, I'm certain I have no web server problem. Dreamweaver 2004 and other
WebDAV clients connect flawlessly.

I did at least find this from a Technical Support Engineer at Adobe Systems Europe...

hi

Is there a solution for that problem yet ?

I have the same problems with DW CS3 connecting to a Lotus Domino
server.
I have previously used GolLive CS2 via WebDav without any problems.

I seem to be able to connect to standard webdav shares. My only problem is the inability to connect to version cue via webdav in DW CS3

Just applied the updates to all CS3 products and tried to connect to the version cue server via webdav with dreamweaver again but I am still getting the same error.

Maybe next update.

I just installed the DW CS3 demo and was impressed how it seemed to import all
my site information from DW8 .. only difference .. the WebDAV connection still
works in DW8 but not in CS3. I'm getting the same error messages reported
above. Shame! was looking forward to a nice upgrade!

This seems to be a rather silly error. On Mac or PC, either one, I get an
"access denied" error when trying to connect using WebDAV. Considering half
the sites I connect to (at least!) use this connection method, Dreamweaver CS3
is basically useless until this issue is resolved. I read in one place that
part of the problem was that CS3 wasn't even bothering to send authentication
in it's request to the server, and when it got back the 401 error, it was just
giving up. I'm not sure how Adobe missed such an obvious problem in their
software, but I hope it gets fixed...promptly.

If WebDAV works fine in previous versions of DW, but doesn't work in DW CS3,
please see if this new TechNote helps:

I just tried the patch mentioned in the Formum and it didn't resolve the issue for me either.

I tried this fix and it did not help. Apparently it only works when
authentication is not necessary? The web server I connect to requires
authentication. When I test the connection, it tests successfully but I cannot
connect to to the server. Dreamweaver 8 works just fine. I've visited, in
person, with the people who support our states K-12 servers and none of us can
figure out why DW 8 can connect but DW CS3 cannot connect using WebDAV. We
have a significant number of schools in South Dakota who are looking for a
replacement to FrontPage and those who chose DW CS3 are having the same
problem. DW 8 works for them but not CS3. Please help!

The above TechNote doesn't help. I still get the error message when trying to connect via webdav to a Version Cue CS3 server.

The DW CS3 problem with Version Cue CS3 Server should be fixed in the
Version Cue Server 3.1 updater. Have you installed that yet on your server?

I am having the same problem with our government web site. Here are links to
information that looks promising:

I'll report back as to whether the above Dreamweaver CS3 - WebDAV fixes worked
for us.

Hello, I got it working, but here is my problem usinig Verion Cue and
Dreamweaver.

First off, I have it set so when I use Check-Out in DW, it copies the lates
version from my VC server to the local directory VC setup for working files. In
DW, my local folder of the site is set to that same directory.

After I use DW to Check-Out the file, I go see the status in Bridge. It says
"Conflicting" for the file status. I go back to DW and select Check-In. That
copies the file from the local folder back to the VC server, as a result VC
gives the file the next version.

So, I go check Bridge to see what happend after the Check-In. It still says
conflicting, but the version is now 2. I do the same process a 3rd time. This
time I expect to see version 3. Nope, still version 2, but if I view the
versions of the file, I see all 3 versions.

Finally, I tried the complete process again, but this time I disabled the
maintain syncronization information for the remote server in my site settings.
Now, it shows the correct latest version, but the file status is still
conflicting.
